Sydney Kamlager-Dove: US Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove has issued a warning that US President Donald J Trump risks becoming the President who lost India, its biggest ally in defense, energy, artificial intelligence and space.
Dove argued that Trump was blessed to have inherited a positive relationship with India marked by an energized Quad, strong political momentum and growing defense technology cooperation but he weakened them all.
Preoccupation with Nobel Peace Prize: Sydney Kamlager-Dove
The US lawmaker went on to add that Donald Trump’s preoccupation of winning the Nobel Peace Prize cost us India. She pointed visa measures and tariffs as the clearest sources of strain between the two countries.
USD 100,000 fees on H-1B
Dove also commented that the Trump administration’s new USD 100,000 fee on H-1B visas directly harms workers who have long supported US innovation across science, medicine and technology.
Growing India-Russia Ties
The US lawmaker held aloft the car selfie of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin during a hearing on foreign policy. She said it is the United States and not India that is undermining the partnership, which is also putting India closer to Russia.
Dove also sarcastically said you don’t get a Nobel Prize by driving your strategic partners into the arms of your adversaries, commenting on Trump’s desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize. She went on to add that being a coercive partner has a cost and the United States is now paying it and will pay even more in the future if it does not mend it ways with India.
