Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin Accuses Governor RN Ravi of Acting ‘More Insidiously,’ 10 Key Points here

RN Ravi: The decision by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi to remove Minister Senthil Balaji from the cabinet and to retract it within five hours has escalated into a full-fledged fight between the Governor and the government, with Stalin severely rebuking the Governor in his stern response on Friday. “I reiterate that you have no power to dismiss my Ministers. That is the sole prerogative of an elected Chief Minister. Your unconstitutional communication dismissing my Minister without my advice is void ab initio and non-est in law and hence has been disregarded,” Stalin wrote.

Congress Leader Manish Tewari Urges President to Remove RN Ravi over ‘Unconstitutional’ Act

Manish Tewari, a leader in the Congress and an attorney, demanded on Saturday that the President fire RN Ravi for his ‘unconstitutional’ action, claiming that the letter he wrote to justify delaying the decision to fire Senthil was’more insidious’ than the unlawful removal of the minister.

Manish Tewari questioned why the Attorney General was being consulted and not the Advocate General as the Governor wrote he would do so. The highest legal official in the nation is the attorney general, whereas the highest legal official in a state is the advocate general. “Article 165 of COI confers Constitutional status on Advocate General akin to Attorney General -Article 76. Why not take legal Advise from Advocate General? Governors cause Constitutional breakdowns,” Manish Tewari said.

Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji Fired by Governor RN Ravi Amid Corruption Allegations

  • Senthil Bajaj, a minister, was fired on Friday by the governor of Tamil Nadu, RN Ravi, who was accused of corruption. The order was delayed for five hours.
  • “I have been advised by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs that it would be prudent to seek the opinion of the Attorney General also,” RN Ravi wrote a letter to Stalin.
  • On Friday, Stalin met with Tamil Nadu Attorney General R Shunmaga sundhram, a state law minister.
  • The Governor acted hastily and did not consult the chief minister before ordering the firing of Senthil Balaji. It was decided during the meeting that all options would be considered and the matter would be dealt with legally.
  • Additionally, it was determined that Stalin would address the Governor in a thorough letter.
  • Stalin made it plain in the letter that the government disregarded the Governor’s choice.
  • K Annamalai, the head of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, said in a statement that the party would hold off on commenting on Senthil Balaji’s firing. Stalin would be reminded, however, of his request to the Governor to fire a minister in 2018 when he was the leader of the opposition.
  • Senthil Balaji will continue to serve as a minister without portfolio, according to the government. He was the minister of energy.
  • Early in June, the ED detained Senthil Balaji in connection with the cash-for-job scheme.
  • Arif Mohammed Khan, the governor of Kerala, backed RN Ravi’s conduct and remarked that it was inconceivable for somebody to continue serving as a minister after being accused of something.
