This state increases 5% hike in DA

Chhattisgarh Government Hikes DA: On the occasion of International Labor Day, the Chhattisgarh government has announced a five percent increase in the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees on Sunday. The dearness allowance of the state government employees, which was 17 percent till now, has reached 22 percent of the basic pay after the increment.

To announce the decision of the state government, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Twitter, “A big decision was taken today in the interest of the employees. I announce an increase of five percent in dearness allowance of government employees. The new rate will be applicable from May 1,” Bhupesh Baghel tweeted in Hindi.

This announcement will benefit 4 lakh government employees and 1.25 lakh pensioners.

Notably, the decision of the Bhupesh Baghel-led government comes after a long-standing demand of state officials and employees to make their DA equal to 34 per cent of central government employees.

Mahendra Singh Rajput, president of Chhattisgarh Ministerial Employees Union had said that Chhattisgarh is less than 17 percent in terms of dearness allowance. State government employees protested against the reduced DA last month and started protests.

In September last year, the Chhattisgarh government had announced a 5 per cent hike in dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners. Earlier, the rate of DA was 12 percent, which has been increased to 17 percent.
