But companies like Yamaha are now putting this function on motorcycles and scooters for the mass market as well. In this piece, we list the top 5 cheapest two-wheelers in India that have traction control.

TCS stands for “traction control system”

Before we begin, let us define traction control and explain how it works. TCS is a safety device built into cars that helps keep the wheels from losing grip on the road. It uses sensors to recognise when a wheel is losing traction and then automatically adjusts the power output or braking force to that wheel to regain traction and keep the car stable.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is the least expensive bike with a traction control system (TCS) in India. The Aerox 155 has just been improved to meet OBD-2 standards. It has a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 155cc engine that puts out 14.79 bhp and 13.9 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Yamaha FZ-S V4

India’s least expensive motorbike with traction control is the Yamaha FZ-S V4. Even though a TCS isn’t really necessary for a 150cc passenger bike, it’s always nice to have. The FZ-S is driven by a 149cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that makes 12.2 bhp and 13.3 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It starts at Rs 1.28 lakh, out of the store.

Yamaha R15 V4

Next is the Yamaha R15 V4, which is the last bike on this list. Aside from the traction control system, the R15 V4 also has a quick-shifter for going up that only works in one way. It has a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with 18.1 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The R15 V4 starts at Rs 1.81 lakh, out of the store.

Yamaha FZ-X

The Yamaha FZ-X starts at Rs 1.36 lakh, out of the store. It has the same mechanics as the FZ-S V3, which means it has a 149cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that makes 12.2 bhp and 13.3 Nm of peak power and is paired with a 5-speed transmission.

Yamaha MT-15 V2

The MT-15 V2 is the last item on the list. The Yamaha MT-15 V2 starts at Rs 1.65 lakh, out of the store. This motorbike is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that puts out 18.1 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. It has a 6-speed manual transmission that goes with it.
