There is a slight sourness in the relations between India and America. While India does not like America's increasing closeness with Pakistan again, after objecting to this, America has started seeing terrorism and crime in India. At least Friday's developments are indicating so. India objected to the visit of the US ambassador to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Shortly after this, the US State Department issued a new travel advisory for its citizens, in which it has been asked to be extra careful while traveling here due to crime and terrorism in India.
US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Bloom recently visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Bloom had called it 'Azad Kashmir' in this tour, to which India immediately objected. On Friday, once again the Ministry of External Affairs objected to this visit. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We have objected to the US ambassador's visit to PoK and holding meetings there." We have informed America about this.
After India objected, the US State Department issued a new travel advisory. In this, India's travel advisory level has been reduced from number 1 to number 2. This level is placed on a scale of 1 to 4. In this advisory, the US has asked its citizens to take 'extra caution' while traveling to India due to 'crime and terrorism'.
Also, America has advised its citizens not to travel to Jammu and Kashmir. However, they have not stopped their citizens from going to eastern Ladakh and its capital Leh. The US has clearly said that Jammu and Kashmir may be a threat to its citizens due to terrorism and civil unrest. It has asked its citizens not to move at all within 10 km of the Indo-Pak border, as armed conflict can take place between the two countries.
