Uttarakhand to move Supreme Court on 30% reservation to women from state

The government will challenge the decision of the High Court to abolish 30 percent reservation in government jobs for women of Uttarakhand in the Supreme Court. Against this decision, the state government will file an SLP in the Supreme Court. In this matter, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made it clear that the rights of women of the state would be protected in every possible way.

In view of the order of the High Court, Chief Secretary SS Sandhu took a meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday. Officials of the Department of Personnel and Justice were present in the meeting. All aspects of the High Court’s decision were discussed in the meeting and the reservation given to women in other states was also discussed.

Will fight legal battle instead of ordinance

The meeting also considered bringing an ordinance against the High Court’s decision to ban women’s reservation. But after deliberation in the meeting, it was decided that instead of the ordinance, the government would approach the Supreme Court with strong arguments and complete legal preparation in this matter.

The High Court has ordered a ban on 30 women reservation in government jobs in Uttarakhand. After studying this order, it has been decided that the government will file an SLP in the Supreme Court on this issue.
