Uttarakhand Weather: IMD Issues Orange Alert for Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh today, warning residents and authorities to remain cautious amid the possibility of intense weather activity.

The weather department has also forecast heavy rainfall in several states and Union Territories, including Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Several areas of Northeast India are also expected to receive heavy rain.

Orange Alert in Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh

According to the IMD forecast, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Intense spells of rain could affect normal activities and may lead to waterlogging in vulnerable areas.

People living in areas prone to flooding, landslides and other rain-related problems are advised to follow local administration and weather department updates.

Heavy Rain Forecast Across Several States

The weather system is expected to bring rainfall to a wide part of the country. Heavy rain has been forecast over Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Parts of Northeast India are also likely to experience heavy rainfall. Residents should remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly during intense rain spells.

Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Expected

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in several regions.

The affected areas include Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
