Feminist Activist Tries to Defend Multiple Relationships
In a news debate, a feminist activist, Manvi Taneja, came out loud in protest against the comments of Baba Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. The now-viral clip, shared on the X handle named Venom, is grabbing the attention of everyone.
In the media clip, a news reporter shows her a clip of Premanand Maharaj. She then pointed out that the baba talked about both men and women. But the activist shuts her down immediately. She said, it is his statement that only 2 to 4% women are pure nowadays that is making everyone against him.
Then she goes on attacking the Aniruddhacharya Maharaj for his remarks. She says, “Agar mein kisike saathh raat ko dinner karne chale jau, wo mere character assaination kar dete hein“. However, he never questioned men for the same act. Pointing to his remark on live-in relationships, then she said, “test drive to bahut jaruri hein, Gaari lene jate ho to test drive karte ho na. To again kisike saath poori zindegi byatit karne se pahle test drive lena chahte ho to kya dikkat hein“.
Social Media Reacts to ‘Test Drive’ Comment
People get widely offended by her “Test drive” comment and came out shaming her opinion. They say, “Sure, but if every car gets a ‘test drive’ and never a booking—maybe it’s not the car, it’s the driving school“.
People are rebutting her faulty logic, saying that it is life and not a car, and someone cannot play with it. Suggesting this, one said, “car thodi na hai zindagi hai yr” and “Iska gaddi ka v agar koi test drive lena chahe?“. They are tagging her as a classic materialistic person for her mean logic. One user thus says, “Hmmm, so cars and humans are the same? Nice. Is this what we call ‘materialist person?“
People are also pointing out her trivial logic in her own game. They say, “Never objectify a woman, but check this out—she’s a woman boldly likening a relationship to a joyride in a car!“.
The Modern Complicated Feminism and Dating Culture
It is necessary to break through the patriarchal mindset. But the way certain feminists try to do it often backfires on them. The false understanding of freedom and feminism leads people think that experimenting with love relationships can make them free of patriarchal clutches. This leads to multiple relationships, live-in relations, heartbreaks, and years-long trauma.
Therefore, while practising feminism is great, one needs to find out its true meaning. While the comments of the Babas reflect a certain inclination towards patriarchy, women should defend themselves more logically and sincerely.
