Volkswagen Taigun get 5 stars in Latin NCAP test, all you must know

Volkswagen Taigun: With a perfect 5-star rating from the Latin NCAP, the Volkswagen Taigun has once again demonstrated its excellence in terms of safety. These crash test results were released by Latin NCAP, the New Car Assessment Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean. Interestingly, the Made-in-India Volkswagen Taigun has already received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Among India’s mid-size SUVs, it is one of the safest.

The Latin American market for the Volkswagen Taigun, which is manufactured in India, come standard with six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC). The vehicle received ratings of 92.47 per cent for adult passenger safety, 91.84 per cent for child passenger safety, 55.14 per cent for pedestrian protection, and 83.28 per cent for safety assistance.

The vehicle underwent tests for ESC, speed assist, pedestrian protection, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) city and interurban, side impact, side pole collision, whiplash, and frontal, side, and side impact. Latin NCAP claims that because of its effective performance, the Taigun received five stars.

Two engine options are available for the Taigun: a 1.5-litre engine with 150PS and 250Nm and a 1-litre engine with 115PS and 178Nm. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard with both of these engines. The smaller engine has a six-speed torque converter, while the larger one has a seven-speed DCT, both for automatic choices.

The VW Taigun includes a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-enabled 10.1-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s display (only on top-spec models), ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring, a reverse camera with parking sensors and an electronic stability programme all contribute to passenger safety.

The starting price of the Volkswagen Taigun is Rs. 11.62 lakh, while the maximum price is Rs. 19.46 lakh.
