Will Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door get a toned down variant like the Mahindra Thar this year? All you must know

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: News regarding the impending Jimny is separate from news concerning automobiles. Not many vehicles have recently attracted as much attention. The nation has actually been impatiently awaiting Maruti Suzuki to reintroduce the storied SUV in India because it is the one vehicle that appeals to everyone, even though we don't actually need one.

Maruti Suzuki teased us by bringing it to the 2020 Auto Expo, and after considerable public uproar, the company is finally on pace to unveil the Jimny at the next 2023 Auto Expo - three long years after it was initially displayed! During this time, the Jimny looks to have gotten bigger and acquired two more doors.

The Jimny's charm rests in its small size and its ability to go off-road thanks to the short wheelbase and the 4x4 drivetrain configuration. But the only variant we will receive is the five-door model, which is a first for Jimny. Despite the fact that Maruti Suzuki builds the three-door Jimny in India for export.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door

The SUV has five doors, a longer wheelbase, and Jimny badging, as shown in the most recent spy photos of the Jimny in India. Sorry to break the bad news, but it is highly doubtful that Maruti Suzuki would bring back the Gypsy name, not even as a special variant.

We wonder if the Jimny will be a watered-down version, just another five-door SUV, given its longer wheelbase, added weight, and additional doors. It also raises the question of whether a two-wheel drive (2WD/4x2) system will be available for the Jimny five-door. The 2WD model will help Maruti Suzuki move more units while managing prices. 

The 103PS 1.5-litre K15C engine will be located under the small hood of the forthcoming Jimny. Either a brand-new six-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission ought to be used with this engine. All four wheels will receive power thanks to Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4x4 technology. If offered, the 4x2 version would have the identical engine and gearbox setups but would only transmit power to the rear wheels.

2WD Variant

Although we would prefer to see a Jimny that can tear up any path, we cannot dispute the reality that a 2WD version will make the SUV more approachable for many customers. At the end of the day, a significant portion of Jimnys will be residing in metropolitan areas. We firmly believe Maruti Suzuki may offer a 2WD Jimny model for this reason alone.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny wait is about to come to an end, and we'll learn more during the 2023 Auto Expo, which is scheduled to take place from January 13 to 18, 2023. We can only hope Maruti Suzuki releases a Jimny that has all the qualities that first drew us to it up until that point.
