Delhi Metropolitan Education (DME), a leading institute affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), conducted online workshops and technical paper presentations as part of DME Management School’s 4th Global Strategic Management Conference (GSMC 2023-24). The conference is being organized in collaboration with SLIIT Northern Uni, Sri Lanka. The theme for the Conference was “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Mental Well-Being: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Trends”.

GSMC receives patronage and encouragement from Mr. Vipin Sahni, Chairman, DME, Ms. Kiran Sahni, Chairperson, DME, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh, Director General, DME and Mr. Aman Sahni, Vice-Chairman, DME. The thought-provoking theme was the brainchild of the Conference Advisors - Prof (Dr.) Ravi Kant Swami, Director and Dean, DME Management School and Prof (Dr.) Poorva Ranjan, Head – DME Management School. Dr. Dr Navya Jain, Associate Professor, DME and Dr Khushbu Khurana, Assistant Professor, DME serve this edition of GSMC as Convener and Co-Convener respectively.

DME College

The second day of the Conference was dedicated to workshops and technical paper presentations. In the first workshop, Ms. Subha Pandian, Founder, AGUA and Ms. Sunitha Vikram, Co-Founder, AGUA, discussed about the theme - Business Case for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Ms. Vikram highlighted the importance of prioritizing equity to avoid negative impacts on health and well-being. The session delved into defining identity and uniqueness of each individual, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive culture where belongingness is valued. They highlighted how biases can affect our interactions with others and presented the concept of the "3B's" (Behavior, Bias, Belief). The speakers also elaborated on how diversity and inclusion can contribute to better business outcomes, citing the importance of creating a sense of belonging for employees, especially for Gen Z and Gen X.

DME college

For the second workshop of the day, Dr. Narendra Singh Chaudhary, Associate Professor (HR & OB), School of Business Design (SOIL) was the guest speaker. Dr. Chaudhary addressed the audience on the topic - Equity at the Workplace: Roadmap to Organizational Success. He stressed upon the importance of equity for organizational success and productivity, citing LinkedIn as an example for successful implementation of equity principles. Drawing industry examples, Dr. Chaudhary highlighted that an equitable workplace fosters respect and dignity for all individuals, regardless of race, gender, religion, ability, or other factors. He asserted that DEI initiatives promote a "people-first culture" and contribute to employee engagement, retention, and organizational performance, ultimately leading to business success. He concluded the session by sharing best practices by companies like CISCO and Accenture for creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable working environment.

The workshops were followed by two parallel technical sessions wherein paper presentations were held and participants presented their research. The session chairs duly evaluated the paper presentations, asking questions and sharing feedback for the participants. Dr. Stuti Jain and Dr. Rashmi Chawla, Associate Professors, DME Management School served as Session Chairs for Technical Session 1. Dr. Shalini Gautam and Dr. Swaralipi Saha, Professors, DME Management School served as Session Chairs for Technical Session 2. A total of 17 paper presentations on Day 2 of GSMC, more are lined up for Day 3, along with a rigorous research workshop with a renowned expert. Scholars, faculty members and students from notable institutions presented their research connected to the conference theme.
