The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations. As per the new guidelines, all practical exams will be conducted between 1 January and 15 February across the country.
CBSE Issues New SOP for Practical Exams
Under the updated framework, schools are required to coordinate with externally appointed examiners from their respective regions to finalize the dates of practicals. The Board has emphasized strict compliance with protocol, making CCTV surveillance mandatory at all examination centres. Continuous monitoring will be carried out to ensure transparency and curb any malpractice.
Group Photo Now Mandatory for Every Batch
One of the most significant changes introduced this year is the compulsory group photograph. During every practical exam, a group photo must be taken featuring the external examiner, internal examiner, and the students appearing in that specific batch. The photograph must be uploaded the same day on the CBSE portal, and later, it must be submitted along with the tabulation chart to the Regional Office.
This provision has been introduced for the first time by CBSE, and it aims to ensure authenticity in student attendance, examiner presence, and conduct of practical exams. The Board will share the list of all external examiners with schools by 25 December, allowing institutions enough time to prepare.
To streamline the examination process, CBSE has standardized each day’s practicals into batches of 20–25 students. With the Board exams scheduled to begin on 17 February, completing practical evaluations within the stipulated window has become essential for smooth conduct and timely compilation of results.
The new SOP reflects CBSE’s push for greater accountability, digital documentation, and real-time monitoring, ensuring fair and uniform practices across all affiliated schools.
