CBSE Board Exams 2026: A series of important changes for the 2026 exams have been announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
These measures are designed for ensuring transparency, improving the entire examination process and aligning question patterns
Twice a Year Exams
Starting 2026, CBSE will conduct exams first in February-March and second in May to replace the earlier supplementary system. This will give students another attempt within the same academic year, saving precious years. The first exam will be mandatory for all while the second will be optional for those seeking improvement in marks.
Results for first will be declared in April while the results for second will be announced in June. Students will be allowed to enhance their performance in a maximum of three subjects – social science, science, mathematics and languages.
A 9-point grading system has been announced that will be implemented from 2026. The new system will award grades ranging from A1 to E based on marks scored by CBSE students.
