EDUCATION: Karnataka reopened schools for Classes 9 to 12 from today, Covid-19 SOPs to be strictly followed

Karnataka has reopened schools for Classes 9 to 12 from today.Covid-19 SOPs are being strictly followed.

Students are happy to come back to School

Punarvi, a Class 9 student from Nirmala Rani High School in Malleshwaram is happy to be back to school. She says, Online classes were not that good because of network issues. But now I am happy since I can meet my friends and here we can understand what is being taught.We have to maintain social distance, sanitize, wear a mask properly and in classes we can sit only one student on a bench,” she adds.

Schools in Karnataka were reopened in the districts where the positivity rate is 2% and above. So, classes 9,10,11 and 12 started working offline with covid-19 SOPs.

Extreme Care taken by the government

Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai had earlier stated that the government has taken extreme care to ensure that classroom learning is carried out safely and preparations have been made accordingly to instill confidence in students and parents.

The CM also talked to a few students and enquired if they know the covid rules to be followed.

Speaking to the media, CM said, “I want my state to be number 1 as a knowledge state, both in the urban and rural areas. Today we are launching our new education policy that will give a big boost for the education scenario from primary to higher education. This is a game changer. This is a revolution in education. This is the dream of our PM.”

The government is now urging parents who have not been vaccinated yet to register for it. They are also checking that all teaching and non-teaching staff have received at least their first Covid-19 vaccine shot at the earliest.

Sr. Lakanita, Principal of the school says “Schools have to begin if not today, tomorrow because children can’t be having online classes all the time. It is high time they do have offline classes and we are prepared.”
