EDUCATION: Odisha is all set to reopen schools for classes 6 and 7

Odisha government: On Wednesday, the Odisha government has decided to reopen schools for classes 6 and 7 from November 15, with strict Covid-19 guidelines. The teaching hours for the students of Classes 6 and 7 will be from 9:30 to 1:00.

Offline Classes Attendance Not Mandatory

Students have the choice to attend the class either online or offline. Attendance is not mandatory for students in offline classes. The School and Mass Education Department highlighted that everyone should follow the Covid-19 protocols strictly.

Postgraduate Offline Classes

With Classes 6 and 7, offline classes for first-year postgraduate students will also resume from November 15, 2021, with strict Covid-19 protocols.

Undergraduate Colleges Reopened

The state government has reopened the colleges for first-year undergraduate students from November 1, while physical classes for the students of Classes 10 and 12 reopened on July 26, for Class 11 on October 21, and for Class 8 on October 25, with strict Covid-19 protocols.

Samir Ranjan Dash Statement 

In November first week, School and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash had said that the schools will likely resume in-person in a staggered manner after Diwali. This government order is the first such announcement after Diwali.

Covid-19 cases in Odisha

The Covid-19 cases have been declining in the state. On Tuesday, Odisha reported 387 new positive cases of COVID and 2,980 total active cases.
