Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has very recently launched an elite landmark scheme, the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child, with an objective to ensure wider opportunities for single girl children in India in higher education. This fellowship provides important financial aid to those single girl students who are pursuing their Ph.D. in authenticated universities, colleges, and institutes all over India.
Benefits of Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship
The Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship provides excellent financial gains benefits to all its users. The selected candidates are initially offered Junior Research Fellowship worth ₹31,000 per month for the first two years. However, this amount is increased to ₹35,000 per month as a SRF, considering the rest of the period for which the fellowship is being offered. In addition to this stipend amount, contingency grant is also availed for conducting various kinds of research work activities.
In the case of students who are Humanities and Social Sciences, there is a grant of ₹10,000 per annum for the initial two years and ₹20,500 for the rest of the course. Science students get ₹12,000 per annum in the beginning and ₹25,000 per annum later. Persons with Disabilities (PWD) are eligible for a fixed escort/reader assistance grant of ₹3,000 per month. The fellowship is valid till the submission of the thesis for award of Ph.D. or for a maximum period of five years, whichever is earlier.
Application Procedure
The Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship follows an appropriately defined application procedure. Individuals should log into the UGC website or the scholarship portal and click on “Apply Now.” They should click on the “SAVITRIBAI JYOTIRAO PHULE FELLOWSHIP FOR SINGLE GIRL CHILD” link and apply as a new user. After the registration, the applicants have to fill up their application with all the information needed and submit the same along with all the supporting documents. Selection is based on merit as well as available seats.
