Galgotias University: University Professor falsely claim a Chinese Robodog as the University’s prized built from scratch, Made in India product and an indigenous innovation. Clueless students outside the Indian National Congress headquarters in 2024, loans taken fraudulently, death of university student after being assaulted and thrown from the hostel window, a unique capability of the university to file more patents than all IITs together in the country and a ‘borrowed’ innovation in the form of the world’s first Drone Soccer straight from South Korea. Spectacles are surely exciting ways of recurring for the Galgotias University.
As does scale that is difficult to match and even more difficult to become a possibility, consider the patents filed by the amazing university!
Galgotias University-Astonishing Count Of Filed Patents, Even IITs Are Left Ashamed!
Galgotias University filed a phenomenal count of 2430 patents between 2017 and 2024. On the other hand, IIT Madras that is globally acclaimed as the most research-intensive of the IITs in the country since 1975 has filed just 2550 patent applications. To sum up, Galgotias University has somehow managed to produce in just 7 years what 50 long years of IIT Madras’s output could not match. Wow, now that’s some achievement to be proud of!

Land Acquisition Allegations Emerge
Like a perfect scam, the Galgotias University is run under the Shakuntala Educational and Welfare Society, claiming it to be a group before India’s independence since 1933. Surprisingly, the only publicly known connection seems to be the now shut E.D. Galgotia and Sons family bookstore in Delhi’s Connaught Place.
A decade back, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) acquired the land of some farmers at low rates. YEIDA invoked the “urgency” clause and then surprisingly allotted large sections of this acquired land at institutional rates to some private institutions. The Allahabad High Court ordered in the Gajraj and others vs. State of U.P. and others case that 64.7 percent additional compensation must be offered for farmers in Greater Noida and Noida acquisitions. The High Court ruled that the urgency clause was improperly applied by YEIDA.
This additional cost was to be proportionally recovered from YEIDA’s allottees, including the Shakuntala Educational and Welfare Society (Rs. 12 crore). Galgotias went on to challenge this and the High Court quashed their appeal in 2020.
YEIDA was directed by the Allahabad High Court in 2024 to initiate the recalculation of recovery amounts plot-wise. Interestingly, a legal dispute on the same is still before the Honourable Supreme Court of India even as the Greater Noida based Galgotias University continues to operate on the very same allotted land.
Does this amount to any illegal land acquisition claims or just a contractual disagreement? Would YEIDA end up invoking lease penalties or cancellation for fundamental breaches? Could this result in contempt proceedings or execution petitions in court against Galgotias University? Would Suneel Galgotia care to explain?
