Govt Launches National Curriculum Framework, Details Here

Schools will now be of interest to children, where children will study and learn through play. There will also be continuous mapping of the environment and development around them, so that they can be moved in that direction. The subject or area in which the children are weak will be improved by paying more attention to it. The Curriculum Framework (NCF) is based on the ‘Panchkosha Vikas’ theory of traditional Indian pedagogy. Under this, the focus will be on the physical, vital, mental, intellectual and consciousness fund of the children.

These have been given importance in the basic level framework. Story and games will be included in the curriculum, so that their full development can be done. In the framework of the Foundational Stage, provision has been made to provide adequate free time to the children. This is the reason that except Mathematics, no class will be of more than 30 minutes. During this also, most of the education of the children will be done by connecting them with different activities, which will be interesting and quick to learn.

There are three goals set for the children at this stage. The first is to develop good health and good understanding, the second is to have colloquial proficiency and the third is to develop an attitude of continuous learning. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday released the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for the basic level of school education. Under this, the curriculum of three years of Balvatika (play school) and first and second grade in schools has been prepared.

Pradhan described it as the biggest step in the field of school education after the new National Education Policy. Said, if the early education of children will be better, then the education will be better in future also. 85% of the brain development of children occurs during this period. The entire framework has been designed keeping in mind children in the age group of three to eight years. Under the new National Policy on Education (NEP), four stages of school education have been fixed. That would be 5, plus 3, plus 3, plus 4. Earlier there were only two levels in school education – 10 plus 2.

Soon the framework for the second stage of school education will also be released

After the basic level, the education ministry has also indicated to release the second stage framework soon. The ministry believes that by February, the framework for all stages of school education will be released. The framework prepared for the basic level has been handed over to NCERT. It will now prepare the syllabus accordingly. Pradhan has given a target to prepare it by Basant Panchami. On this occasion, the Education Minister also started Balvatika (Play School) on a pilot basis in 49 Kendriya Vidyalayas of the country.
