Haryana News: The education sector of Haryana has long faced a dire crisis with low enrolment rates, teacher shortages and poor infrastructure plaguing the state’s government schools. Haryana’s Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda has now announced that the state would soon introduce CM Shri Schools on the lines of the central PM Shri Scheme, adopting the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum to elevate standards.
What’s Special About This Haryana News?
Dhanda remarked that the Haryana’s education department has reserved 25 percent seats at the entry-level classes for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) in private schools. It was remarked by the education minister that a total of 14,127 applications were received by private schools in admission under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, out of which 11,803 successful applicants were allotted private schools.

What Are CM Shri Schools?
CM Shri Schools that are inspired by PM Shri Schools were launched in 2022 to create educational institutions embodying the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These schools follow CBSE patterns, focusing on holistic development, quality education and 21st-century skills like critical thinking and digital literacy.
Does CM Shri School Have The Potential to Revolutionize The Education System?
The CM Shri School would redefine the state’s education system by leveraging CBSE adoption. This would help in creating equal opportunities, reversing dropout trends and outperforming Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) benchmarks faster. While reservations would ensure equity, a deep focus on NEP would help in building future-ready skills.
However, the state may find it challenging to fill more than 30,000 vacancies, funding infrastructure and training teachers to meet stringent CBSE standards.
CM Shri Schools in the state of Haryana could push a renaissance, making the education system of Haryana competitive nationally. However, the state government must create and maintain high standards of accountability, community buy, transparency and affordability of education to make it a big-time success.
