Jaipur News: Pink City Parents, Take Note! New school Timings Announced, Govt Or Private Schools Only?

Jaipur News: The order does not bring any change in timings for school staff or any other local or board exams that may be presently underway.

Jaipur News: Jaipur District Collector Sandesh Nayak has announced a change in school timings for both private and government schools of the state with effect from April 27, 2026 until the end of the session.

According to the notification, classes from pre-primary to grade 8 would now happen only from 7:30am to 12pm. Timings for grades 9th to 12th and examinations would remain the same. Schools that would be found violating the order would face stringent action under the Disaster Management Act.

Sandesh Nayak, Jaipur District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, said the order would provide relief to thousands of young students and their worried parents.

Jaipur News-Reasoning Behind The Order

Rising temperatures and scorching sun in Jaipur have increased the challenges of the common public, especially that of school children. Scorching heat across Jaipur and much of Rajasthan has pushed authorities to rethink school schedules, prioritizing student safety amid intensifying summer conditions.

Over the past few weeks, temperatures have consistently hovered above 45°C, with hot, dry winds -locally known as “loo”, making outdoor exposure dangerous, especially for young children. Health experts have warned of rising risks of dehydration, heat exhaustion and even heatstroke during peak daytime hours.

Parents across Jaipur have welcomed the move, expressing relief that authorities are taking proactive steps as the heat waves intensify. Weather forecasts suggest that extreme conditions may persist in the coming weeks, making such adjustments not just necessary but urgent. The revised timings reflect a broader effort to adapt daily life in Rajasthan to increasingly severe climate patterns.

Exceptions To The Order

The order does not bring any change in timings for school staff or any other local or board exams that may be presently underway.

The District Collector remarked that all sub-division officers and officials of the education department have been advised to ensure strict compliance in their respective areas so children’s health is not compromised at any point of time during the intense heat.
