Karnataka government decided to reopen colleges

Karnataka government on Wednesday decided to reopen colleges across the state from October 1. Even though the Central government have not cleared any particular date for reopening colleges.

“The government has decided to get the ball rolling on all academic activities online from next month. In addition, all colleges will start in October and students are expected to attend classes in person,” Ashwath Narayan said.

According to Narayan, the state government has already made comprehensive preparations for starting offline classes following the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Meanwhile, coronavirus has led to shutdown of schools, colleges and universities across India since March. Students are now rely on the online medium to attend classes and appear for examinations.

Karnataka on Thursday registered its highest-ever spike of 9,300 Covid-19 cases and 141 deaths which pushed the tally to over 3 Lakh. The total cases include 2.19 lakh discharges and 5,232 deaths.
