Today, Education Day is being celebrated in the country. In the memory of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India, the country celebrates National Education Day on 11 November. The Ministry of Human Resource Development announced on September 11, 2008 that Abul Kalam Azad has contributed to the field of education in India, so the birthday of this great son of India will be celebrated as Education Day by remembering him.
Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was not only a reformer, freedom fighter and a scholar, but was committed to building the nation through education. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was the first Education Minister of independent India. He served the country from August 15, 1947 to February 2, 1958. The Ministry of Human Resource Development announced on 11 September 2008 that the Ministry has decided to celebrate the birthday of this great son of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, remembering his contribution in the field of education in India. The HRD ministry said, "From 2008 to November 11, every year will be celebrated as National Education Day without declaring a holiday.
The credit of the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology and University Grants Commission goes to Maulana Azad.
He also established excellent institutions like Sangeet Natak Akademi (1953), Sahitya Akademi (1954) and Lalitkala Academy (1954) for the development of education and culture.
There is no holiday for this day. On this day, seminars, essay competitions, rallies etc. are held in schools.
