NCERT: Scholars ask NCERT to ‘Drop our names from the Textbooks’

NCERT: Days after Ex-NCERT counselors Yogendra Yadav and Suhas palshikar detached themselves from the rationalized political textbooks, 33 more counselors have opted to remove their name from the textbooks. In this context, they have written a letter to the NCERT Director regarding the context. They have also stated that the 33 members who were a part of the Textbook development committee for books enrolled in the year 2006-2007 , have said that the current Rationalisation exercise has threatened their unified effort.

NCERT: We have all rights to make amendments

The current changes that the NCERT is now planning to make requires omission of sentences and deleting some sections is not accepted with importance given to the others. Earlier the NCERT had come out with a statement saying we have all the rights to make amendments based on the copyright and proprietorship and said that the withdrawal of association by any one member is out of the question. The council also mentioned that the Textbook development committee existed only till the time the textbooks were evolved.
