NEET 2021: SC dismisses the petition for adding in-service quota seats

NEET 2021: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking a direction to add 92 “in-service quota seats” of NEET Super Specialty 2021 to newly added seats in Tamil Nadu and make them available to all candidates, irrespective of their previous joining.

A vacation bench of Justice Citi Ravikumar and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia observed that the apex court had on May 9 allowed mop-up rounds for all incomplete/misguided/vacant super-specialty seats on the condition that no doctor who had previously held the seat Was involved, do this.

“We do not think that we should proceed with the dispute raised by the petitioner in the light of the order passed by this court.We have no doubt that the petitioner is not entitled to make such a prayer in this regard.” In short, such writ petition should be failed and dismissed,” the bench said.

The top court was hearing an application filed by Kavirsan MP and others, seeking addition of 92 “in-service quota seats” of NEET Super Specialty 2021, surrendered by Tamil Nadu to the newly added seats and they were made available to all the candidates.

On May 9, 2022, the counsel appearing for Tamil Nadu told the apex court that the 92 unfilled seats in the state’s service quota would be handed over to the All India Quota (AIQ) this year.

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhatti said that a mop-up round will be conducted to complete the admission process for the super specialty medical course, in which 92 seats in Tamil Nadu will be assigned to AIQ.

The top court then said, “A mop-up round shall be conducted for all incomplete/misguided/vacant super specialty seats, provided that any doctor who has participated in one seat in the previous round is not eligible to participate.” Will happen.” Suitable time for completing admission may be extended.”
