‘No bag Day’ in Karnataka Schools, authorities issue guidelines

Karnataka: Finally a breather for the schools of Karnataka, especially students.. The Education Department has come up with the new guidelines particularly the schools bags for the children which should not weigh more than fifteen percent of the child’s body weight. The Department has instructed the officials to make sure all the schools should adhere to these guidelines.

All schools have been asked to adhere to the rules

If we talk about the Guidelines formulated by the Government for the school children, the weight of the school bag for class 2 child should be 1,5 to 2 kg, for classes 3to 5, it should not be more than 2-3 kg, for classes 6-8 it should not be more than 3to 4 kg and for classes 9-10 it should not be more than 4-5 kg.

Saturday will be ‘ No Bag Day’

The schools have been asked to strictly adhere to the circular issued by the Education Department which says, there should a ‘No Bag day’ in all the schools of Karnataka, that day could be a Saturday. These instructions are based on the recommendations as suggestion by the V P Niranjanradhya Committee.
