UP CM Yogi Adityanath Cabinet Approves Key Policies to Boost Agriculture, Education, and Infrastructure

Following CM Adityanath’s directions, 700 additional centers will be set up to ensure smooth and timely procurement.

Under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state cabinet on Friday approved 22 proposals aimed at strengthening the economy, agriculture, education, health, and infrastructure. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna confirmed that all proposals were passed unanimously, providing new directions for state development.

New Rice Procurement Policy Announced

For the Kharif season 2025-26, the cabinet approved the rice procurement policy. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for common rice has been raised from ₹2,300 per quintal last year to ₹2,369 per quintal, while Grade-A rice MSP increased from ₹2,330 to ₹2,389 per quintal.

The state aims to procure 60 lakh metric tons of rice, with 3,100 procurement centers currently operational. Following CM Adityanath’s directions, 700 additional centers will be set up to ensure smooth and timely procurement.

Coarse Grain Procurement Policy

The cabinet also approved coarse grain procurement policies for other crops:

  • Maize: MSP increased to ₹2,400 per quintal (from ₹2,225). Procurement will cover 25 districts including Bulandshahr, Badaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Mainpuri, Agra, Firozabad, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad, Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, Gonda, Bahraich, Ballia, Sonbhadra, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Deoria, and Lalitpur.
  • Bajra (Pearl Millet): MSP set at ₹2,775 per quintal, up from ₹2,625 last year. Procurement will cover 33 districts including Bulandshahr, Agra, Firozabad, Mathura, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Kasganj, Hathras, Etah, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Rampur, Amroha, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad, Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Ballia, Hardoi, and Unnao.
  • Jowar (Sorghum): MSP fixed at ₹3,699 per quintal for hybrid jowar and ₹3,749 per quintal for Maldandi jowar. Procurement will take place in 11 districts including Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Jalaun, Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Unnao, and Hardoi.

These measures are expected to increase farmers’ income and support agricultural stability in the state.

Focus on Mining-Affected Areas
