Adapting to Severe Weather: Online Classes Mandated in Lucknow and Agra Schools

UP News: Due to the unforgiving cold, dense fog, and severe weather conditions, schools in Lucknow and Agra have temporarily closed their doors for students from classes 1 to 8. District Magistrates in both cities have issued orders for these closures, providing relief to students amidst the challenging weather. School Closure Orders

Lucknow District Magistrate’s Directive

Lucknow’s District Magistrate has ordered the closure of all schools, from nursery to class 12, until January 27, 2024. The emphasis is on shifting to online mode for classes to ensure uninterrupted education. Additionally, students are allowed to wear warm clothes instead of school uniforms during this period.

Agra District Magistrate’s Announcement

In Agra, the District Magistrate has declared the closure of schools for nursery to class 8 until January 24, 2024. There is also a change in timings for classes 9 to 12, which will now be conducted from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.

District Magistrate’s Instructions for Schools

Online Classes Mandate

To mitigate the impact of the harsh weather and extended breaks on students’ education, Lucknow’s District Magistrate has mandated schools to conduct online classes. The directive includes the abolition of the compulsion for students to wear school uniforms during this period.

Installation of Heaters

School principals and heads in Lucknow have been instructed to install heaters in classrooms to maintain a conducive learning environment. This measure aims to ensure that students can comfortably pursue their studies without being adversely affected by the weather.

Exam Precautions

The District Magistrate of Lucknow has explicitly stated that, under no circumstances, should children be made to sit in open grounds for pre-board and practical examinations. This directive ensures the safety and well-being of students during examinations.
