The Savi vs Jigra debate has taken a new and dramatic turn. A simple comment from a filmmaker has now turned into a major controversy. Divya Khosla Kumar has stepped in to defend herself. She says she is speaking up against “industry gatekeeping”. The issue grew bigger after Mukesh Bhatt appeared to suggest that Divya started the Savi vs Jigra fight for publicity. But Divya’s latest move has changed the conversation completely.
Divya Khosla Confronts Mukesh Bhatt
On Thursday, Divya posted a phone call recording on Instagram. In the call, she asks Mukesh Bhatt directly if he spoke against her. She wants to know if he accused her of creating the controversy.
Mukesh denies everything. He says, “Na mereko kisi ne pucha, na maine kisi ko bola.” He also claims that people “with vested interests” are behind this.
Divya says the negative news came out on her birthday, which made it even more hurtful. Mukesh is heard comforting her. He says, “Beta, this is all planned… somebody wants to hurt you and has intentionally planned this.” He also says he did not know it was her birthday and adds, “Main aise harkat nahi karta.”
He then hints that the trolling might be coming from “the other camp”. He tells Divya to stay strong because she has “a good year planned ahead”.
Divya Talks About “Lobbying And Gatekeeping”
In her caption, Divya says she is shocked and upset. She writes that the things she found out were “disturbing and heartbreaking”. She says she wanted to speak up for artists who face “hierarchy, lobbying and gatekeeping”.
She adds, “This behaviour is unacceptable and cannot be normalised. It is time we speak up. It is time we call out the industry mafia.”
Divya says posting the recording was important so people can hear “how certain groups attempt to sabotage careers and push genuine talent out”.
Comments on her post came in quickly. Some users supported her and said the media coverage was “unbelievable”. Others felt she was not responsible for anything related to Jigra, as people simply did not like the film. A few found fun in the controversy.
Check out some online user comments below:
“Unbelievable!! How media can tweak things to such an extent.”
“Don’t think Divya could be held responsible for anything related to Jigra, ppl didn’t like the movie, and they have a right to dislike a movie if it doesn’t do well, including the leading actress! Despite what all that transpired, she ended up winning Best Leading Actress Filmfare.”
“This might be a Promo for something too. They don’t care.”
“You are the wife of T series owner. He is a multimillionaire. Why your husband isn’t doing anything? He should support you and expose Alia Bhatt.”
“Mam aapko big boss karna chahiye.”
“Saavi was much better than Jigra.. To be honest.”
“Birthday pe shadyantra, May god give you power to face this mam.”
Why This Controversy Began
The fight started months ago. Divya accused the makers of Jigra of copying the jailbreak idea from Savi. She also claimed that the film’s box office numbers were inflated. She even posted photos of empty cinema halls to support her claim.
Mukesh Bhatt later reacted to these allegations. In an interview with Lehren Retro, he said, “What Divya did for publicity, I don’t know… Everyone needs publicity, and for publicity, you need some controversy.”
He also defended Alia Bhatt. He said she is too big a star to engage in such acts and added, “Usko yeh chichori harkat karne ki zarurat nahi hai.”
