‘Accused’ Launch: Anurag Kashyap’s Sister Anubhuti Kashyap Opens Up — Will the Kashyap Legacy Continue?

Anuhbuthi Kashyap has launched her movie called Aesthetic on Netflix, a psychological thriller that had a premiere date of February 27th 2026 and was directed by the talented filmmaker and sister of Director Anurag Kashyap.

The film stars actor Konkona Sen Sharma as she plays an accused doctor residing in London facing serious sexual assault accusations, and actress Pratibha Ranta also plays a key part in the storyline of the film. The film company that produced this film is called Dharma Productions, which covers multiple topics such as the concepts of truth, reputation and how people are influenced.

This particular film carries a lot of emotional depth towards the characters while exploring their character familiarity due to the great deal of public scrutiny placed upon their relationship. 

Supporting His Sister Emotionally

Upon the recent premiere of this film, Anurag Kashyap expressed an emotionally distressed with a letter directed towards Anubhuti. Within this note, Anurag praised Anubhhuti for taking care of sensitive material while maintaining a high sense of restraint and growth, as well as giving him/her own unique style of work within the industry.

In Anurag’s message to Anubhuti, he encouraged her to continue her creative instincts and to continue to allow her voice the ability to grow by “keep battling at it one step at a time”. Although the movie received positive reviews from viewers and critics, Anurag encouraged Anubhhuti to follow through on her instincts for creativity.

Can the Kashyap Legacy Continue?

Anurag Kashyap has long been known for redefining Indian cinema with films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, with a raw and realistic style of storytelling. With Accused, Anubhuti Kashyap appears to follow a similar path by prioritising character-driven storytelling rather than mainstream commercial formulas. Despite the film’s mixed reviews, the Kashyap family’s bold storytelling legacy will continue in the years ahead.
