Veteran Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas passed away at the age of 51. He was found unconscious in his hotel room in Chottanikkara, Ernakulam, on Friday evening, August 1. He had returned there after shooting for his upcoming Malayalam film Prakambanam. The sudden loss has shocked the Malayalam film industry and his fans.
Malayalam Actor Kalabhavan Navas Was Found Dead In Hotel Room After Film Shoot
According to hotel staff, Navas had not checked out of his room at the scheduled time. After several calls went unanswered, they entered the room and found him unconscious. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Initial reports suggest that the suspected cause of death is cardiac arrest. However, the exact reason will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination. Police have confirmed that no suspicious items or circumstances were found in the hotel room.
His body was kept at SD Tata Hospital in Chottanikkara and was shifted for autopsy to Government Medical College Hospital in Kalamassery. As per reports, the body will be handed over to his family after the post-mortem. The funeral will take place on Saturday (today) after final public viewing at Aluva Jama Masjid around 4-5 pm.
Colleagues Recall His FINAL Day On Set
Navas had spent the day filming Prakambanam with his co-stars. According to those on set, he appeared healthy and was in good spirits. He left the location around 5:30 pm and was planning to visit his home for a short two-day break from shooting.
His sudden death has left his friends, colleagues, and fans in disbelief. Many of them took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of working with him.
Kalabhavan Navas’ Career
Kalabhavan Navas began his journey in entertainment as a mimicry artist. He gained popularity through stage performances before making his film debut with Chaithanyam in 1995. Over the years, he appeared in several Malayalam films and television serials.
Some of his notable films include Mimics Action 500 (1995), Hitler Brothers (1997), Junior Mandrake (1997), Mattupetti Machan, Amma Ammaayiyamma (1998), Chandamama (1999), and Thillana Thillana (2003). Apart from acting, he was also known for his singing talent.
Navas is survived by his wife, Rehna Navas, and three children (Navas Naharin, Navas Ridwan, and Navas Rihan).
