Chandrayaan-3: Actor Prakash Raj was the subject of a police report due to his tweet regarding the Chandrayaan-3 mission. In the Bagalkote district of Karnataka, leaders of Hindu organisations complained about the 58-year-old actor and requested that something be done about it. On August 20, the actor had posted a cartoon with the caption “First picture coming from the Moon by #VikramLander (sic)” showing a man pouring tea while wearing a vest and lungi. He was charged with’mocking’ India’s planned Moon mission by a number of users.

Users Criticize Prakash Raj’s Tweet, Alleging Political Motivations
Users immediately denounced him for making fun of the Chandraayan-3 expedition in the comment section. Many further noted that the author’s ‘blind hatred’ for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the driving force behind the post. It should be recalled that Prakash Raj had previously mocked him for being a “chaiwala” (tea salesman).
Prakash Raj Responds to Backlash Over Tweet
Prakash Raj saw a lot of user reaction once the tweet went viral. The actor, however, remained unfazed. In a post, he wrote, “Hate sees only Hate..i was referring to a joke of #Armstrong times.. celebrating our kerala Chaiwala.. which Chaiwala did the TROLLS see… if you dont get a joke then the joke is on you…GROW UP #justasking (sic).”
