The singer-turned-actor has been nominated in the 2025 International Emmy Awards in the Best Actor category for his role in the Netflix biographical drama Amar Singh Chamkila. The film itself is also nominated in the TV movie/mini-series category. Fans across India are celebrating this global recognition for the Punjabi star.

The Best Actor category at the 2025 International Emmys includes renowned talents like David Mitchell for Ludwig, Oriol Pla for Yo, Adicto (I, Addict), and Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude. Diljit will compete against these internationally acclaimed actors, making the nomination even more significant.
Parineeti Chopra, who also starred in Amar Singh Chamkila, shared her excitement on social media, tweeting, “WOOOHOOOO! Proud of my Team Chamkla.”
Speaking to HT City, Diljit reflected on the importance of the recognition. “I feel truly honored that Amar Singh Chamkila, an artist from Punjab, is being recognised and talked about at a global level on such a prestigious stage like the International Emmys. This nomination is not just for me, but for the entire legacy of Chamkila. I am grateful to Imtiaz Ali Sir for choosing me for the role.”
Actor Recently Addressed Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy
Amidst the Emmy celebrations, Diljit also addressed the controversy around his film Sardaar Ji 3, which faced criticism for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. At his recent concert in Malaysia, he clarified the timeline. He explained that Sardaar Ji 3 was filmed before the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, while the India-Pakistan cricket match happened afterward.
A video from the Malaysia concert has gone viral. Diljit is seen saluting the Indian flag by saying, “Woh mere desh da jhanda hai (That’s my country’s flag). Always respect.”
He continued in Punjabi – “When my film Sardaar Ji 3 was shot in February, the matches were being played. After that, the tragic Pahalgam terror attack happened. At that time, and even now, we have always prayed that the terrorists should receive strict punishment. The difference is that my film was shot before the attack, and the match was played after the attack.”
India and Pakistan recently played against each other in the Asia Cup on September 14. India won the match, but players from both sides avoided handshakes and interactions after the game.
Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 stars Diljit Dosanjh alongside Neeru Bajwa, Gulshan Grover and Sapna Pabbi. The film released overseas on June 27 and continues to draw attention online.
