Big: Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda replaces Varun Dhawan in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis

Agastya Nanda: Amitabh Bachhan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Ikkis, a film directed by Sriram Raghavan of Andhadhun fame. The film is the story of war hero Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. He was also the youngest recipient of the prestigious Param Veer Chakra. He was martyred during the Indo-Pak war of 1971 when he was just 21 years old.

The film also feature veteran actor Dharmendra, who has worked together with Big B in films like Chupke Chupke and Sholay.

Earlier Varun Dhawan was to star in the film but now his sudden exclusion is surprising.

Ikkis announced in 2019

Ikkis was announced in 2019, and the film was to go on floors in 2020. However, it got delayed because of the pandemic. In fact it’s been some days since reports of Varun opting out of the film started doing the rounds. Finally Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films made the announcement today with Agastya in the lead role.

The industry is abuzz with rumours if poor show by Bhediya was the reason for this sudden change or if Varun himself opted out for other project. Earlier, Varun acted in Raghvan’s Badlapur.

The Archies coming

Agastya Nanda, son of Shweta Nanda, is also part of Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. An adaptation of the popular comics, Agastya will be in the titular role. The film will also star Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Janhvi Kapoor’s sister Khushi Kapoor.

Earlier Amitabh Bachchan had shared his excitement for the project and tweeted, “Agastya… A new chapter begins in your life and there cannot be greater joy among us all. My blessings my love and my wishes ever .. Do well .. and keep the flag flying.”
