Akhanda 2 Movie Review: Akhanda 2 finally hit cinemas this Friday after a long and loud build-up. Boyapati Srinu directed the film, and Nandamuri Balakrishna returned in his dual roles. The team hoped to recreate the magic of the 2021 hit Akhanda.
Paid premieres were held on Thursday. Soon after, X (formerly Twitter) filled with reactions. But the buzz turned negative very quickly. Many viewers even called the film a “3-hour torture.”
Akhanda 2 Movie Review: Nandamuri Balakrishna Starrer Disappoints Audience
Audience reviews show clear disappointment. Fans and regular viewers pointed out the same issues again and again. They complained about cringeworthy writing, messy action scenes, loud background music and a direction that feels confused. For a popular actor–director combo, this dip in quality surprised many people.
One user shared his Akhanda 2 movie review and wrote, “Ramayan and Varanasi are making Indian cinema proud outside. On the other side, Balayya with his cringe fest and illogical action scenes degrading our Sanatan culture and indian cinema both.”
Another viewer called the film a mess and said, “Balayya as Superhero, Screen presence fine. No scope for 2nd Balayyah. Aadhi Wasted. Cringe Story, Poor Villains, Emotionless Fights. Balayyah keep lecturing with pointless, lengthy Dialogues & loud BGM. Other than Interval Seq, it’s a total MESS!”
Some fans said this is the first time the Boyapati–Balakrishna team has disappointed them. A frustrated viewer wrote, “Go if you are frustrated in life. They made a mockery of action episodes, Logic-less, senseless fights. Above the head dialogues. First flop in boya & nbk combo.”

Akhanda 1 Still the Better Film
Many users on social media said the first Akhanda was much better. They felt Akhanda 2 could not match the emotion, scale or impact of the 2021 film.
A lot of viewers said only a few scenes work. The rest of the film feels dull and slow, especially the first half. Thaman’s loud BGM also received mixed reactions. Some liked it in parts, but many found it overwhelming.
What Fans Did Enjoy
Even with the criticism, Balakrishna’s loyal fans enjoyed certain moments. His screen presence still impressed them. The song “Jajikaya Jajikaya” became a favourite in theatres.
One excited fan wrote, “The last 30 seconds of the Jajikaya Jajikaya song hit crazy in theatres… Pure nostalgia, pure rage, pure Balayya aura.”
About Akhanda 2
Akhanda 2 – Thaandavam continues the spiritual-action world from the first film. Balakrishna returns as the powerful Aghora, Akhanda Rudra Sikandar. In this chapter, he faces a new villain who harms children, nature and spiritual peace. The film mixes mythology with heavy action and strong visuals.
Balakrishna also appears as Murali Krishna. Samyuktha Menon plays the female lead. Aadhi Pinisetty is the main antagonist, a dangerous tantric. The film also features Harshaali Malhotra in her Tollywood debut, along with Saswata Chatterjee, Poorna and Kabir Duhan Singh. The runtime is 2 hours and 44 minutes, and it is available in multiple languages, including a 3D version.
Akhanda 2 aims to recreate the mass appeal of the first film. But early reactions show that viewers are not fully satisfied. The film struggles with writing, emotion and direction, even though Balakrishna’s presence and a few scenes still manage to entertain his core fanbase.
