Bollywood star Alia Bhatt may be a strict parent at home, but grandmother Neetu Kapoor seems to have very different plans for little Raha. In a candid conversation, Neetu Kapoor revealed that she often has playful disagreements with Alia over parenting choices, especially when it comes to spoiling her granddaughter.
The veteran actress recently appeared on All About Her podcast, where she opened up about Raha’s upbringing and praised Alia Bhatt for being a careful and disciplined mother. However, Neetu admitted that she loves pampering Raha and keeps trying to bend some of Alia’s strict rules.
Alia Bhatt Is Strict About Raha’s Lifestyle
Talking about Alia Bhatt’s parenting style, Neetu Kapoor said the actress is extremely particular about Raha’s routine and habits. Neetu shared, “Alia is a disciplinarian. She is teaching her the right things.”
She further explained that Alia carefully monitors Raha’s screen time and eating habits. Neetu revealed, “No TV, no unnecessary exposure, and she’s very particular about what Raha consumes. I am always fighting with her. I say – Come on, let me give her one chocolate. But Alia says – No, sugar is not good for her. I tell her – I’m the grandmother, let me spoil her a little.”

Alia Bhatt And Ranbir Kapoor’s Parenting Dynamic
Neetu Kapoor also spoke about how Raha shares different bonds with both her parents. According to her, Ranbir Kapoor is the fun parent, while Alia Bhatt handles discipline at home.
She said, “Raha listens to Alia, and Alia is a great mother. Ranbir is more like a friend. He chills with her, does all the fun things with her, but children are always a little more scared of their mother.”
The actress also noted that modern parenting has changed significantly because of social media and digital exposure. She explained that today’s parents are more cautious about children getting addicted to screens at an early age.
Neetu added, “I think social media scares them. Children can get addicted to screens very quickly, and today there’s so much exposure all around.”
Alia Bhatt Earlier Opened Up About Motherhood Anxiety
Earlier, Alia Bhatt had also spoken honestly about the emotional side of motherhood during a conversation with Sadhguru. The actress admitted that raising Raha brings both joy and constant worry. Alia had shared, “I am a mother to a three-and-a-half-year-old and she is the joy of my life. But I am worried all the time.”
She also revealed that Raha already has a competitive streak and dislikes losing. Recalling a small example, Alia said, “Even now, as my daughter grows up, she always wants to win. If someone else comes first, she’ll say they cheated. I tell her – no, they came first.”
During the discussion, Sadhguru advised Alia not to let worry dominate parenthood and encouraged her to learn from her child’s natural joy instead.
For the uninitiated, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed daughter Raha in November 2022, the same year they got married.
