Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi was the first film to release in India in 2022 and it has received positive response from the audience and critics as well. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi initiated a campaign for the British Academy Film Festival (BAFTA) 2022. Now, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is eyeing to take Alia Bhatt starrer to the Oscars. The film is based on a chapter of author Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Alia Bhatt has played lead role in the film and the actress got praised for her acting in the movie as she has shown amazing acting skills.
Alia Bhatt starrer had its world premiere in Berlin
According to latest reports, the film will compete for all the categories including – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and others for the 95th Academy Awards. Recently, news came in light that RRR director SS Rajamouli started the Oscars campaign for his magnum opus RRR. The pan-India film also stars Alia Bhatt in significant role. Alia Bhatt starrer had its world premiere at the 72nd edition of Berlin International Film Festival. Gangubai Kathiawadi received a standing ovation from the audience in Berlin.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was motivated after seeing the audience’s reaction in Berlin and he decided to start its Oscars campaign. Recently, Bhansali visited London for taking part in BAFTA 2022. There, he talked about his 25 years of career and delivered his BAFTA masterclass as he talked to students in Q&A session. Gangubai Kathiawadi was premiered at The Prince Charles Cinema on November 30 and Bhansali attended the screening. The leading lady Alia shared the pictures on her social media account.
