Rumours of a fallout between filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Deepika Padukone have been making the rounds lately. The buzz started after Farah joked about Deepika’s eight-hour shift request, which was reportedly linked to her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Things escalated when reports claimed the two had unfollowed each other on social media.
Farah has now cleared the air by revealing that they never actually followed each other online. She explained that they prefer talking directly through messages and calls instead of relying on social media. Putting the rumours to rest, she said, “We never really needed to follow each other. We talk directly when required.”

Amid this chatter, an old interview of Farah has resurfaced, showing her first impressions of Deepika during her Bollywood debut. Speaking with Mukesh Chhabra, Farah recalled casting Deepika in Om Shanti Om (2007) opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She said, “Audition nahi tha, it was more, I had decided I want her. Toh as a look test hum log ne Mehboob studio mein rakha tha.”
Farah also talked about Deepika’s nervousness at the time. “She was very nervous. Aur uska naa problem hota tha uski voice tabhi bohot kharab thi. Aur diction was a typical that Karnatak ka Bangalore ka that South ka diction. Uska voice aur woh… Toh main audition dekhti thi naa, toh the voice used to disturb me. So main sound off karke dekhti thi uska look test. Toh sound off karke face, you’re dancing and all, beautiful. Matlab Hema ji mere ko bilkul woh… humne Dreamy Girl rakha hi uska naam kyunki she reminded me of Hema ji. Toh woh look test tha, but more or less I decided ki main isko hi lene waali hun.”
