Singer Arijit Singh’s mother, Aditi Singh, passed away at 11 pm on Wednesday. She was admitted in a Kolkata hospital around the end of April due to Covid-related complications.
According to an official statement from the hospital, she had tested Covid-negative on May 17, but died due to a cerebral stroke on May 19. Family members have taken her mortal remains to their home at Jiaganj in Murshidabad on Thursday morning.
“She passed away last night around 11 pm. Singh, admitted with COVID, was put on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). She tested negative on Monday but succumbed to a cerebral stroke last night,” read an official statement issued by the hospital.
Arijit Singh's mother's condition came into light after several celebrity took to social media to amplify requests for blood donor for her. However, Arijit Singh later took to Twitter and asked everyone to not overdo, but in his stead, help everyone in need amid the pandemic.
“It is my humble request to those who are trying to help me at this hour, Please Do not overdo things just because you see a name called Arijit Singh. Until we learn to respect each individual, We are not going to elevate ourselves from this disaster. I am thankful to people who reached out and helped but please remember we are all human beings. Every individual is priority. (sic),” Arijit had written.
