Asha Bhosle Birthday: Legendary singer Asha Bhosle turns 89 on Thursday and has been singing in the movies since the 1940s. Asha and the late Lata Mangeshkar were very popular singers in the early days of Hindi cinema. She was very popular since the start of her career but she has to face many obstacles to make it. Before getting married to music composer, Asha Bhosle was married to Ganpatrao Bhosle and she had three children with him. Asha shared that her husband would only earn 100Rs/month so she took the responsibility for the house.
“I would have to leave my one-month-old behind” – Asha
Asha shared in an interview that in the early stage of her career she used to live away from Mumbai. She would travel every day to come to the city. Asha had to leave her one-month-old son behind her in-laws so she could pursue her singing career as she needed the money for the household. She said,” I would have to leave my one-month-old behind so I could go and sing and earn money. In those struggling days, sometimes I would get a song and sometimes I would not. Apart from all this, I had to manage the household chores also.

The world was starting to know about Asha Bhosle and she was getting famous but her daily routine was fetching water from the well, cooking all meals, and packing lunch boxes. Also, she had to drop her kids to school and take care of her in-laws.

Asha achieved many milestones in her career. The Singer completed three songs in a day with enthusiasm and that album was nominated for Grammy. She was the first Indian singer to be nominated for Grammy for the compilation legacy. She was awarded the certificate for recording 11,000 songs in over 20 languages.
