Ashneer Grover recalls rejecting Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma for his advertisement; says 'Maine bola koi aur player bata'

Ashneer Grover, who is missing from Shark Tank India's second season, recalls turning down Indian batsman Virat Kohli for an advertisement. The former BharaPe co-founder claimed on a podcast that he was meant to shoot an ad with Virat but declined to have him on board and instead got the other 11 players for half of what he was supposed to spend for Virat.

Ashneer mentioned on the Vagehra Vagehra podcast that he later told Virat about this at a party, and he commended him for making a better business move. The ex-Shark remarked, "Main bola chalo, Virat Kohli ko le lete hain, aur usne ek amount boli. Virat Kohli bura maan jayega, abhi bolunga nahi. Phir bola ke Anushka ko bhi saath mein le lo. Maine bola usko ki maine kaunse Mayavar ke lehenge pehnane hain aur sherwani bechni hai, woh Manyavar waalon ne kar liya hai."

He went on to say that he twisted the same deal and requested him to obtain the other 11 players for half the price. "Maine bola koi aur player bata baaki, woh bolta hai ke uske baad kisi ki aukaat nahi hai. Maine kaha tu ek kaam kar, jitne ka tu mujhe Kohli bech raha tha na, usko divide by two kar, uske baaki 11 player laa de. Aur wohi deal kari phir maine usse 11 player liye, Kohli divided by two ke number pe.

Virat Kohli praised his business idea

Ashneer remembered the time when he briefed Kohli about the same scenario and he said, "It's extremely excellent business". The entrepreneur also discussed how he got Salman Khan to shoot for his business but couldn't take a photo with him.
