Avatar: The Way of Water fails to surpass the collection of Avengers: Endgame in the opening weekend in India

Avatar: The Way of Water, directed by James Cameron, has finally hit theatres. The movie has garnered a total of $430 million nearly internationally. James Cameron’s directorial has earned approximately Rs 127.5 crore in India alone, making it the second-highest opening weekend for a Hollywood film. Despite the massive figure, Avatar: Way of Water fell short of breaking the opening weekend record set by Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers Endgame released before pandemic

As per box office India, Avengers Endgame that launched in 2019 got Rs 157 crore [approx] in three days over the opening weekend. Avatar 2 is around Rs 40 crore short of meeting the collection of the movie. Endgame was released before the epidemic. While Avatar 2 is one of the highest-grossing films in the world and in post-pandemic India.

About Avatar: The Way of Water

Avatar: The Way of Water is a sequel to Avatar that stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, and Kate Winslet, among others, in important roles. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively, in Avatar 2. They have five children now, but their pleasant existence is disrupted by ‘sky people’ who are chasing Jake. He and his family seek sanctuary with the Metkayina tribe, but in order to live, the family must learn the ways of water.
