The first song “Maatrubhumi” from Battle of Galwan has been released, in which Salman Khan pays a heartfelt tribute to the nation. Launched by Himesh Reshammiya Melodies on Saturday, the track shows Salman portraying Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. It highlights the values of sacrifice, courage and duty associated with the Indian Army. While the message of the song has touched many, online reactions suggest the response has been mixed.

“Maatrubhumi” runs for over six minutes and captures both personal and professional moments from the life of Salman’s character. The video shifts between emotional family scenes and tense battlefield visuals, showing the cost of service and deep respect for the motherland. Chitrangda Singh appears as the officer’s wife.

Netizens Find Salman Khan’s “Maatrubhumi” Song Familiar

The song is composed by Himesh Reshammiya, with vocals by Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal and Master Mani Dharamkot. Sameer Anjaan has written the lyrics, keeping them firmly rooted in patriotism. On paper, the team behind the song promised a strong patriotic anthem. However, social media users quickly shared divided opinions after its release.

Several listeners felt the song did not sound fresh and reminded them of older patriotic tracks. Others pointed out issues with Salman Khan’s expressions and lip sync.

About Battle Of Galwan

Battle of Galwan is produced by Salman Khan along with his mother Salma Khan, and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. It is scheduled to be released on April 17.

In the film, Salman portrays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, one of the 20 Indian Army personnel who lost their lives during the June 15, 2020, clashes in the Galwan Valley while protecting Indian territory. The standoff in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020 and remains one of the most serious military confrontations in recent years. Colonel Babu, who served with the 16 Bihar Regiment, was posthumously honoured with the Maha Vir Chakra for his bravery.

A teaser of Battle of Galwan was released on December 27, during Salman Khan’s 60th birthday.
