Best upcoming Netflix web series: 5 shows to stream in August 2022

Upcoming web Series on Netflix: It’s a busy month for Netflix this August with the addition of 33 new movies and TV shows to the library. Netflix is releasing a number of projects fit for any genre lover, comedy, thrilling, with family-friendly flair added to the mix.

Take a look at 5 of the most anticipated shows releasing this month:

1. “Untold” Volume 2 (available August 16)

“Untold” is a sports documentary series that digs into highly publicized events to get deeper truths, fresh perspectives, and a better understanding of what really went down. Developed by Chapman and Maclain Way, the first volume of the feature-length docuseries focused on ex-NBA star Metta Sandiford-Artest, boxer Christy Martin, and Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner, among others.

Volume 2 kicks off with the two-part Manti Te’o doc, followed by the story of NBA referee Tim Donaghy’s gambling scandal, then a chronicle of the 1983 America’s Cup in subsequent weeks. It consists of 4 feature-length films released weekly.

2. “Lost Ollie” (available August 24)

“Lost Ollie,” tells the story of a lost toy who goes on an epic adventure to reunite with the boy who lost him. The four-episode limited series is adapted from William Joyce’s 2015 children’s book “Ollie’s Odyssey.” Shannon Tindle serves as creator, writer, and executive producer on the limited series, featuring the likes of Jonathan Groff, Mary J. Blige, and Tim Blake Nelson.

3. “Mo” (available August 24)

“Mo” is a half-hour comedy series created and produced by Ramy Youssef, of the hit show “Ramy,” as well as his co-star “Mo” Amer, who plays a Palestinian refugee still waiting to obtain his U.S. citizenship, along with his mother, sister, and older brother. Living in Houston, Texas, the family tries to laugh away their pain and fears as they acclimatise to their new surroundings.

Given the creative partnership, structure, format, and tonal balance between drama and comedy, “Mo” looks very much worth checking out.

4. “Echoes” (available August 19)

Michelle Monaghan plays twin sisters in this mystery-thriller co-starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Tucker. Monaghan is a talented lead, alongside the ever-fascinating Bomer, especially in darker stories. Even the synopsis — which promises that Monaghan’s two characters, Leni and Gina, “share a dangerous secret” — isn’t hiding just how wild “Echoes” is bound to get. So grab a drink, plant yourself on the couch, and prepare to be entertained. The limited series consists of seven hour-long episodes and was created and produced by Vanessa Gazy.

5. “Never Have I Ever” Season 3 (available August 12)

“Never Have I Ever” first burst onto the scene in 2020, as the half-hour comedy about Devi and her high school drama earned immediate acclaim and plenty of fans. Now, after an emotional Season 2 finale, the love triangle between Devi, Paxton, and Ben remains unresolved as ever. If you haven’t caught up on the whip-smart and fast-paced teen comedy, now’s a good time to jump onboard. Netflix has already renewed “Never Have I Ever” for a fourth and final season, expected next year. Created by Mindy Kaling, and starring the ebullient Maitreyi Ramakrishnan alongside Poorna Jagannathan, and Darren Barnet, the show is an amazing binge-watch!
