Bholaa advance booking: Advance booking for Bholaa, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has been slow for the opening day. While the advance booking started quite well, it could not retain the momentum.
The film brings Ajay and Tabu back together after the blockbuster success of Drishyam 2. Bholaa was expected to have similar result but that doesn’t seem too likely based on the numbers that are coming. Now all eyes are set on spot bookings for the mass action thriller for a respectable opening day number.
22,000 tickets at multiplexes
The film had sold around 22,000 tickets from national chains, 6 hours prior to the release day. The numbers don’t look good and by the end of the day, it is expected to sell around 35,000 tickets. This would be one-third of the number of tickets that Drishyam 2 sold prior to its release.
Unlike Drishyam 2 which released on a non-holiday Friday, Bholaa has the benefit of Ramnavmi. This could help boost the numbers to some extent. Also, it could get some good mass support through the course of the day as the film is a single screen pleaser.
Release plan interesting
The release of Bholaa is quite intriguing. It has the benefit of a few holidays in its initial run, but it is releasing during Ramzan, and that will keep the Muslim crowd away. There is no Hindi film competition for three weeks and it will enjoy a free run till the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. One will have to wait and see if the film capitalises on the open run that it gets.
The film is expected to have an opening of around Rs 10 – 11 crores in India. But it releases alongside Dasara. While Dasara may rake in higher on the opening day in India and worldwide, we can expect Bholaa to trump Dasara from day 2 if the film gets positive feedback. Dasara also has a dubbed Hindi version that releases tomorrow and it is to be seen if that film can dent Bholaa’s prospects.
Bholaa releases in theatres tomorrow.
