While early buzz claimed Shefali died of a cardiac arrest, the Mumbai Police have now clarified that the exact cause of death remains uncertain. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem.

According to ANI, the police received a call around 1 am and soon arrived at her residence. “Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. They said, "The cause of death is not yet clear." A forensics team also arrived at the scene to carry out further investigations.

A report from Hindustan Times reveals that Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi, and three others. Sadly, by the time she was brought in, she had already passed away. The hospital’s reception team confirmed that there were no signs of life when she was admitted.

A visibly heartbroken Parag Tyagi was seen leaving the hospital. Videos of him went viral on social media as he tried to shield his face while sitting in a car, clearly overwhelmed by grief.

About The ‘Kaanta Laga’ Girl

Shefali first rose to fame at the age of 20 when she starred in the remix music video Kaanta Laga. The song went viral before social media even existed and turned her into an overnight sensation. She followed it up with multiple appearances in music albums and even took small roles in films.

In 2019, Shefali made a strong comeback through Bigg Boss 13, where fans saw a different side of her (confident, bold, and unapologetically real). Her chemistry with husband Parag was also on display earlier in Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye 7, where the couple performed as a team.

Shefali’s personal life also made headlines over the years. She married Harmeet Singh of Meet Bros in 2004, but the couple divorced in 2009. She later found happiness with Parag Tyagi, and the two tied the knot in 2015.

The news of her death was first shared by journalist Vickey Lalwani, who wrote, “Shefali Jariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, is no more.”
