Black Warrant Trailer: The streaming giant Netflix is starting off the new year with a bang. The trailer for the upcoming prison drama web series by Vikramaditya Motwane (Sacred Games) was released a couple hours ago. This series marks the return of Motwane to making a Netflix web series along with the web series debut of Zahan Kapoor. His last work with the streamer was the 2024 film CTRL starring Ananya Panday.

Vikramaditya Motwane is back to telling long stories with the Netflix prison drama Black Warrant releasing on 10th January. The trailer for the series was released a couple hours ago on Netflix’s official YouTube channel. The trailer description reads ‘Inspired by true events, Black Warrant unravels a gripping tale of survival, power, and the haunting truths hidden behind prison walls.’

The Black Warrant trailer showcases Zahan Kapoor portraying the role of a newly appointed jailer Sunil Gupta. In the trailer he is shown adjusting to the challenging environment of the infamous Tihar Jail. His struggles paint a picture of the environment and how he is faced with reality overtime. The trailer cleverly blends some light hearted moments only to counteract with a thrilling one.

Black Warrant is a prison drama series based on the book ‘Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer’ by Sunil Gupta (former superintendent at the prison) and Sunetra Choudhury. It features Zahan Kapoor in the lead role with Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Anurag Thakur, Sidhant Gupta also playing key roles in the series. The prison drama will also feature Rajshri Deshpande, Tota Roy Chaudhary and Rajendra Gupta in special appearances.
The Vikramaditya Motwane series inspired by real life events promises a look into the infamous jail and its workings. In a statement to Netflix he said, ‘Black Warrant has offered us the opportunity to explore a world that’s often hidden from view—one that’s tough, complicated, and full of contradictions.’
