Bollywood and TV actor Mukul Dev died on Friday night at the age of 54. He was known for his roles in Son of Sardaar, Jai Ho, and Yamla Pagla Deewana. His friends reached his home on Saturday after hearing about his sudden passing.

The cause of death remains unknown. His family has not released an official statement yet. More details are expected soon.

Actor Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardaar, confirmed the news. He shared that Mukul had been unwell for some time.

He told India Today that Mukul became very reserved after losing his parents. He rarely left his house or met people. His health had worsened recently, and he was admitted to the hospital. He also offered his condolences to Mukul’s brother and those who were close to him.

Actress Deepshikha Nagpal also expressed her grief. She shared a throwback photo on Instagram with the caption, “RIP.”

Mukul Worked With Many Films And TV Shows

Mukul was last seen in the Hindi film Anth The End. He was the brother of actor Rahul Dev. Born in New Delhi to a Punjabi family, Mukul had roots in a village near Jalandhar. His father, Hari Dev, was an assistant commissioner of police. He introduced Mukul to Afghan culture and was fluent in Pashto and Persian.

Before entering the entertainment world, Mukul trained as a pilot at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi. But his love for performance started early. In Class 8, he earned his first paycheque after impersonating Michael Jackson at a Doordarshan dance show.

He made his acting debut in 1996 with the TV show Mumkin, where he played Vijay Pandey. His television journey included shows like Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Gharwali Upparwali, and Hare Kanch Ki Chudiya.

Mukul also hosted Season 1 of Fear Factor India, adding to his TV presence. He entered films with Dastak, where he played ACP Rohit Malhotra. The film also marked Sushmita Sen’s debut in Bollywood.
