Today, Bollywood's famous actress Rekha is celebrating her 66th birthday. She was born on 10 October 1954 in Chennai.
Rekha started her acting career in 1966 with the South Indian film Rangula Ratnam. She was a child artist in that film. In her career, Rekha has worked in around 175 Hindi and South Indian films, including 'Beautiful', 'Khoon Bhari Maang', 'Khoon Aur Sweat', 'Muqaddar Ka Sikander' and 'Umrao Jaan'. She has won three Filmfare and one National Film Award. Rekha has also been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

In 1981, Rekha starred in ‘Umrao Jaan’, a film adaptation of the Urdu novel ‘Umrao Jaan Ada’ (1905), written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa. Rekha played the titular role of a poetess from the 19th century Lucknow.
