Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 12: Border 2 started its box office journey on a strong note, but the film is now slowing down in its second week. The Sunny Deol-led war drama surprised trade analysts with its opening numbers. However, the pace has dropped and collections have entered single digits.
Even Tuesday discounts failed to lift earnings on Day 12. The makers introduced ticket prices as low as Rs 149 to boost footfalls, but the strategy did not deliver the expected results. As a result, the film missed an important milestone at the domestic box office.
Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 12
According to Sacnilk, Border 2 earned Rs 5.75 crore on its second Tuesday in cinemas. With this, the film’s total net collection in India stands at Rs 286.75 crore after 12 days. The Day 12 figure remained the same as the previous day, despite the discounted ticket prices.
The flat trend clearly shows that the film is losing momentum as it moves closer to its third week. While there was no drop, the lack of growth meant Border 2 narrowly missed crossing the Rs 300 crore mark on Day 12. The film is now expected to reach that milestone on Day 13.
Released on January 23, Border 2 crossed the Rs 200 crore mark within just six days of its release. Its opening weekend was stronger than Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. This early surge put the film ahead of many recent releases.
However, the momentum did not last beyond the first week. As collections dropped in the second week, it became clear that nostalgia may have played a big role in the strong start. Comparisons with Sunny Deol’s previous blockbuster Gadar 2 highlight this slowdown. By Day 12, Gadar 2 had already entered the Rs 400 crore club, while Border 2 is still far behind.
For Varun Dhawan, the film remains an important success. After several post-pandemic releases underperformed, Border 2 has now become his highest-grossing film. Still, it trails Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, which earned Rs 30 crore on Day 12 and stood at Rs 411 crore net in India at the same stage.
DON'T MISS
Despite the slowdown, Border 2 has performed better than many recent war films. In 12 days, it has outperformed titles like Sky Force (Rs 102.95 crore), Fighter (Rs 178.5 crore), and Sam Bahadur (Rs 60.95 crore). This keeps it among the stronger performers in the genre.
The film is also facing competition from Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3, which has earned Rs 21.92 crore in five days despite a smaller release. Meanwhile, Border 2’s worldwide collection is close to Rs 392 crore. Trade experts are now watching closely to see if it can enter the Rs 400 crore club globally by the end of the week.

About The Film
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is the spiritual sequel to the 1997 cult classic Border. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and J.P. Dutta, the film is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Unlike the original, it expands into a multi-front war story, covering major operations such as the Battle of Basantar and Operation Chengiz Khan.
Sunny Deol stars as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film also features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh, who bring emotional depth by focusing on the families of soldiers.
Netflix has acquired the film’s digital rights, with reports suggesting a streaming release around March 20, 2026. Encouraged by the box office response, the makers have already confirmed that Border 3 is in the planning stage.
