The recently released Border 2 trailer has received a strong response from viewers. Many say it brings back memories of the original film.
Amid online criticism of Varun Dhawan’s acting, he has now received praise from an unexpected name. Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner and Social media influencer Elvish Yadav, who is often accused of paid film promotions, has spoken positively about Varun.

Elvish (who belongs to Haryana) shared his reaction after watching the trailer and appreciated Varun’s effort to capture the regional tone. In a video shared on Instagram, he said, “Maine abhi Border 2 ka trailer dekha aur mujhe gaane aur Sunny Paji bahut pasand aaye. Varun bhai ek Haryanvi ka kirdaar nibha rahe hain. Unka lahja ekdum perfect hai. Film mein woh ek Jaat ki bhoomika mein hain aur main unhe shubhkaamnayein deta hoon.” (I just watched the trailer of Border 2 and I loved the songs and Sunny Paji. Varun Bhai is playing Haryanvi and the accent is perfect. He plays a Jaat in the film and I would like to wish him all the best.)

About Border 2
Border 2 is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border and focuses on stories of courage and sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Varun Dhawan plays Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a real-life Param Vir Chakra awardee who led the 3 Grenadiers.
The film features a strong ensemble cast, including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. It aims to highlight collective heroism rather than focusing on a single character.
Earlier this month, during the launch of the film’s anthem “Ghar Kab Aaoge” in Jaisalmer, Varun spoke about his emotional connection to the original Border. Calling it a childhood dream to play a soldier, he addressed the audience at the Longewala-Tanot border and spoke about the importance of such films for the younger generation. He ended his speech with a powerful dialogue from the film: “Iss baar hum border mein ghusenge nahin, hum border hi badal lenge” (This time we won’t just enter the border, we will change it).
